YouTube is such a significant part of my life. I had a very strict yet chaotic upbringing and stressful school life, and YouTube was my escape. Because it was free, YouTube was where I discovered music, watched skits and reaction content that influenced my sense of humour, got inspired by people's creativity, developed media literacy, and became more politically conscious. It's weird to talk about YouTube with other people because everyone's YouTube algo/echo chamber and thus experiences are so different... In that way, your algo is a mirror into your own beliefs, desires, values. Unless you aren't that chronically online. Now that I'm older, the magic of YouTube has pretty much faded. Maybe it's because everyone already 'knows' how to do YouTube, so everything just feels too polished and sanitised. Maybe the algo just isn't what it used to be, or the site just grew too big to grasp that feeling of a shared culture. Maybe I grew up.
Why a list of comfort YouTubers? I don't know. The word 'comfort' gets used a lot in reference to a favourite piece of media, one that carries an emotional attachment. Comfort is a different feeling from entertainment. It warms your heart and makes you feel safe and content. I must have had so many favourite creators over the years, some of whom have been cancelled LOL. These are just the YouTubers that I currently watch, who bring me comfort for whatever reason. How many times have I used the word 'comfort'?
Slushy Noobz is such a ridiculous name for a YouTube channel. I love how
